I made a lunch date to meet a friend last week. Friend lives in Da Quarter, so they picked Green Goddess, in Exchange Place. I'd never been, but had heard about Chef Chris DeBarr's place for months, so it was a great idea.
Exchange Place is a neat little three-block alley between Rue Chartres and Rue Royale that connects Canal Street with Rue Conti. It's quite romantic and relaxing.
(more after the jump)

"Duck Fat Home Fries" - they're fried to potato-chip crispness. Yes, in duck fat. They're served with a chili mayo and a garlic mayo for dipping.
My friend had the Cuban Luau Sandwich: Artisanal salame, pulled pork, manchego, pickled banana peppers and roasted pineapple on cibatta bread. It's pressed down in the Cuban style after being assembled. Apologies for the fuzzy photo, I tend to rush pictures of other's food, so they can dig in. I nicked a piece of this sandwich, and it's delicious. I love the combination of pork and pineapple, and this sandwich did not disappoint.
I had the Shrimp and Grits - New Orleans style "barbecued shrimp" over a cake of roasted grits. New Orleans barbecued shrimp don't involve grilling or barbecue sauce, they're actually baked in butter and spices. They're usually cooked shell-on, and the diner peels them. Delicious! The butter sauce for the shrimp drizzled over the grits and made for a lovely combination.
We both had iced tea to drink, so the tab was low, $50 with tax and a decent tip.
